    Setting Up the Level System

The Level System turns normal server activity into XP, levels, ranks, role rewards, and member profile cards. Use it when you want members to see visible progress from chat and voice activity without manually tracking engagement.

    Before You Start

    • You must be logged in to the Majestic dashboard.
    • You need admin access for the Discord server you want to configure.
    • Majestic needs the module permissions shown on the Level System page, especially permission to send messages and manage roles if you use level roles.
    • Put Majestic above reward roles in the Discord role hierarchy before expecting automatic role assignment to work.
If role rewards are configured but members do not receive them, check the bot role position first.

    Open the Module

    1. Go to the Majestic dashboard.
    2. Select your server.
    3. Open Level System.
    4. Enable the module from the page header if it is not already enabled.

The page is split into Rank Card, XP & Rewards, and Settings. Most settings save automatically after a short delay. Rank card changes save only when you press Save Rank Card.

    Configure XP Rewards

Open XP & Rewards and set the XP ranges that members can earn.

    • Message XP controls how much XP a member can receive for eligible text activity.
    • Cooldown limits how often message activity can grant XP to the same member. The allowed range is 0 to 600 seconds.
    • Voicetime XP controls how much XP a member can receive from eligible voice activity.
    • Set both minimum and maximum to the same number if you want a fixed XP reward.
    • Set both values to 0 if you want that activity type to track stats without awarding XP.

Majestic chooses a random value inside the configured range when it awards XP. A member levels up when their total XP reaches the next level threshold.

    Add Level Roles

Level roles are assigned automatically when a member reaches the configured level.

    1. Open XP & Rewards.
    2. In Level Roles, enter a positive level number.
    3. Select the role to award.
    4. Press Add Level Role.

Majestic uses the highest configured level role that the member qualifies for. When a member reaches a higher reward tier, older lower-tier level roles are removed automatically. If a member has a level role that now requires a higher level than they have, Majestic removes it during the level-up check.

    Choose a Notification Channel

Open Settings and choose a text channel under Level-Up Notifications.

When a member levels up, Majestic posts a level-up message with the member rank card in that channel. Leave the channel empty if you want level-ups to stay silent while still tracking XP, ranks, and roles.

    Blacklist Channels and Categories

Use the Blacklist card when some areas should not give XP.

    • Text channels in the blacklist do not grant message XP.
    • Voice channels in the blacklist do not grant voice XP.
    • Categories in the blacklist exclude channels inside those categories.

This is useful for spam channels, staff-only areas, AFK voice channels, bot command channels, or any place where activity should not count toward progression.

    Customize the Rank Card

Open Rank Card to design the image members see when they use /level or when Majestic posts a level-up notification.

    • Start with a design preset if you want a fast layout.
    • Edit visible layers such as avatar, name, level, rank, monthly rank, XP, messages, voicetime, and progress bar.
    • Use variables such as %level%, %rank%, %xp_current%, and %xp_needed% in text layers.
    • Choose bundled backgrounds or adjust the card background mode.
    • Use Preview to inspect the live card, then use server render preview when you want to confirm the final generated image.
    • Press Save Rank Card when the card looks ready.

Rank card edits are not applied to live bot output until they are saved.

    Test the Setup

After saving the configuration, test it with a normal member account or a staff account that is not a bot.

    1. Send messages in an eligible text channel.
    2. Spend time in an eligible voice channel if voice XP is enabled.
    3. Run /level in the server.
    4. Check that the rank card renders and that the displayed level, rank, and XP make sense.
    5. Confirm level-up roles by temporarily using a low reward level during testing, then set the final levels afterward.

Members can also use the Show Level user command from Discord to view another member rank card.

    Resetting Level Stats

The Reset Level Stats action permanently deletes level data for every member in the server.

    It resets:

    • XP
    • levels
    • message counts
    • voicetime
    • monthly XP
    • monthly voicetime

Use this only when starting a new season or rebuilding the server progression system. There is no undo button in the dashboard.

    Recommended Starter Settings

For most communities, start with conservative values and adjust after watching activity for a week.

    • Message XP: 5 to 15
    • Message cooldown: 30 to 60 seconds
    • Voicetime XP: 1 to 5
    • Level roles: add only the major milestones first, such as levels 5, 10, 25, and 50
    • Blacklist: exclude bot commands, spam channels, AFK channels, and staff categories

This keeps progression meaningful while reducing the chance that members farm levels through low-value activity.

    Troubleshooting

    • Members are not gaining XP: confirm the module is enabled and the channel or category is not blacklisted.
    • Message XP is too fast: increase the message cooldown or lower the message XP range.
    • Voice XP is too fast: lower the voicetime XP range or blacklist AFK channels.
    • Level-up messages are missing: choose a notification channel and confirm Majestic can send messages there.
    • Roles are not assigned: move the Majestic role above the reward roles and confirm it has Manage Roles.
    • Rank card edits do not appear: press Save Rank Card after editing.

Once the basics work, review the leaderboard and member stats pages to see how your community responds to the new progression system.
