How to Host a Giveaway
Create, manage, verify, end, cancel, and reroll Majestic giveaways from the dashboard or Discord slash commands.
How to Host a Giveaway
Majestic giveaways let you run prize drawings in a Discord channel with entry requirements, optional luck multipliers, manual or automatic drawing, and a public verification record after the giveaway ends.
Use this guide when you want to launch a giveaway from the dashboard or with /giveaway commands.
Before You Start
- You must be logged in to the Majestic dashboard or able to use Majestic slash commands in Discord.
- You need admin access for the server. The Discord command group requires Manage Server permission.
- Majestic must be able to view the target channel, send messages, and edit its giveaway message.
- Choose the prize, number of winners, end time, and any entry requirements before launching.
If Majestic cannot post the giveaway, check the bot permissions in the selected channel first.
Open the Giveaway Page
- Go to the Majestic dashboard.
- Select your server.
- Open Giveaway.
Admins can create giveaways and manage active or completed giveaways. Non-admin members can view giveaway history only for channels they are allowed to see and can verify completed draws.
Create a Giveaway from the Dashboard
Use the Create a giveaway panel when you want the most complete setup experience.
- Enter the prize or title.
- Choose the text channel where Majestic should post the giveaway.
- Choose the end date and time.
- Set the number of winners.
- Add a minimum membership age if members must be in the server for a certain number of days or months.
- Add required roles if only members with specific roles should enter.
- Add luck multiplier roles if some roles should have a higher chance to win.
- Enable Manual draw only if you want the giveaway to wait for you after the timer ends.
- Press Launch giveaway.
The dashboard accepts 1 to 30 winners. Membership age can be set in days or months. Months are converted to 30-day blocks when the giveaway is sent to the bot.
Understand Entry Requirements
Required roles are strict. A member must have every required role listed on the giveaway to enter.
Minimum membership age checks how long the member has been in the server. If a giveaway requires 14 days, a member who joined yesterday cannot enter even if they have the right role.
Luck multiplier roles do not stack. If a member has multiple multiplier roles, Majestic uses the highest matching multiplier. Members without a matching multiplier enter with normal 1x luck.
Use requirements carefully. Too many restrictions can make a giveaway feel confusing or leave too few eligible entrants.
Manual Draw vs Automatic Draw
Automatic draw is the normal flow. When the timer ends, Majestic closes entries and draws winners.
Manual draw is useful when staff want to review the giveaway before picking winners. When the timer ends, the giveaway moves to Awaiting draw instead of immediately selecting winners. The giveaway creator can then press Draw in Discord, or an admin can draw it from the dashboard.
Use manual draw for high-value prizes, staff-reviewed events, or giveaways where you want a final check before winners are announced.
Create a Giveaway with Slash Commands
You can also create a giveaway directly in Discord:
/giveaway create
The command supports:
title: the prize or giveaway name.duration: examples include1d,12h,30m, and2d12h.winners: number of winners, from 1 to 30.channel: optional target text channel. If omitted, Majestic uses the current channel.required_role: optional role required to enter.required_days: optional minimum server membership age in days.multiplier_role: optional role that receives bonus luck.multiplier_value: bonus luck value from 2 to 10.manual_draw: whether the creator must trigger the draw after the timer ends.
Slash command durations must be at least 1 minute and cannot exceed 60 days.
Share Clear Giveaway Rules
The giveaway message shows the key requirements, but your server should still make the rules easy to understand.
For best results:
- Use a short title that clearly names the prize.
- Host the giveaway in a channel where eligible members can see it.
- Keep required roles simple.
- Use membership age requirements to reduce drive-by entries for important prizes.
- Explain multiplier roles in an announcement if some members have bonus luck.
- Avoid changing server permissions during a live giveaway unless necessary.
Manage Active Giveaways
The dashboard lists active giveaways with the giveaway ID, channel, number of entries, winner count, status, and remaining time.
Admins can:
- Draw now to end a giveaway immediately and pick winners.
- Cancel to stop a giveaway without drawing winners.
- Watch manual giveaways that are waiting for a draw.
In Discord, use:
/giveaway list
/giveaway end giveaway_id:...
/giveaway cancel giveaway_id:...
Save the 16-character giveaway ID when you need to manage a specific giveaway. It appears in the dashboard and in the command response after creation.
Verify a Completed Giveaway
Completed giveaways appear in Past giveaways. Press Verify to check the draw proof.
Majestic stores a committed entrant snapshot, the participant hash, the giveaway ID, the end time, and the draw seed hash. The verification panel recomputes the expected values so members can confirm that the stored winner result matches the public proof data.
This is useful for community trust because the original result record is not overwritten by later rerolls.
Reroll Winners
Use Reroll when a winner is ineligible, does not claim the prize, or needs to be replaced.
Rerolls exclude the original winners and any prior reroll winners for that giveaway. Each reroll is recorded separately with its own proof data, while the original giveaway result stays intact.
In Discord, use:
/giveaway reroll giveaway_id:... winners:1
In the dashboard, set the reroll winner count on the completed giveaway row and press Reroll.
Troubleshooting
- Majestic cannot create the giveaway: confirm it can view and send messages in the selected channel.
- Members cannot enter: check required roles, membership age, and whether they are joining from the correct server.
- A role requirement is not working as expected: remember that required roles all apply, while multiplier roles use only the highest matching multiplier.
- A manual giveaway did not draw automatically: this is expected. Use Draw now after the timer ends.
- The giveaway is missing from a member view: non-admin members only see giveaways in channels they can view.
- Verification says the giveaway is not found: confirm the giveaway has completed and the ID is the exact 16-character giveaway ID.
Start with a simple giveaway first, then add role requirements or luck multipliers once your community understands how entries and verification work.
