    Setting Up Temp Voice

Temp Voice lets members create temporary voice channels on demand. When someone joins a creator channel, Majestic creates a personal voice channel, moves the member into it, and removes the channel again after it becomes empty.

Use this guide when your server needs clean voice spaces for duos, groups, support rooms, gaming sessions, or events without keeping dozens of permanent channels open.

    Before You Start

    • You must be logged in to the Majestic dashboard.
    • You need admin access for the Discord server you want to configure.
    • The TempVoice module must be enabled for the server.
    • Majestic needs permission to manage channels and move members.
    • Create at least one normal Discord voice channel that members will join to create their temporary channel.
If members join the creator channel but nothing happens, check Majestic's Manage Channels and Move Members permissions first.

    Open the Temp Voice Page

    1. Go to the Majestic dashboard.
    2. Select your server.
    3. Open TempVoice.
    4. Enable the module from the page header if it is not already enabled.

The page shows one or more presets. Each preset connects a creator channel to the settings Majestic should use when it creates a temporary voice channel from it.

    Create the Discord Creator Channel

Before saving the preset, make a normal voice channel in Discord. This channel is the doorway members join when they want their own room.

Good creator channel names are short and action-based:

    • Join to Create
    • Create Voice
    • New Room
    • Start a Party
    • Create Squad VC

Put the creator channel in the category where you want the temporary channels to appear. Majestic clones the selected creator channel, so the category and base channel permissions are the starting point for new temp channels.

    Choose the Creator Channel

    In the TempVoice preset:

    1. Select the Creator Channel.
    2. Confirm the live preview shows the selected channel as the Join channel.
    3. Keep only one preset per creator channel.

When a member joins this channel, Majestic creates a new voice channel for them and moves them into it. The creator channel itself stays empty so the next member can use it again.

    Set the Channel Name Pattern

The Channel Name Pattern controls the name of each generated temp channel.

Use {user} anywhere you want the member's display name to appear.

The pattern can be up to 100 characters. Keep it short enough that members can scan the Discord channel list quickly.

If you do not need member-specific names, use a fixed pattern such as Gaming Room or Support Room. Majestic still creates a separate channel for each member who uses the creator channel.

    Configure Delete Delay

Delete Delay controls how long an empty temp channel waits before Majestic deletes it.

    • 0 seconds deletes the channel as soon as it becomes empty.
    • 10 seconds is a good default for most servers.
    • 30 to 60 seconds gives members time to reconnect after a crash, network drop, or accidental disconnect.

Use a shorter delay for busy servers where channels should disappear quickly. Use a longer delay when members often switch devices or briefly disconnect.

    Allow User Presets

Enable Allow User Presets when you want Majestic to remember each member's last temp channel settings.

When this is enabled, members can keep their previous channel name and user limit. The next time they create a temp channel from the same preset, Majestic applies those saved values automatically.

This is useful for regular groups that repeatedly create the same kind of room, such as ranked teams, study groups, or recurring event crews.

Disable it when every temp channel should start from the preset defaults.

Make the User the Channel Owner

Enable User is Channel Owner when the member who creates the temp channel should receive owner controls inside the channel.

Owner controls let the creator manage the temporary channel without asking staff for every change. The control panel supports actions such as:

    • Rename the channel.
    • Set a user limit.
    • Kick a member from the temp channel.
    • Transfer ownership.
    • Claim ownership when the previous owner leaves.

This option is best for community voice rooms where members are trusted to manage their own space. For staff-controlled support rooms or stricter event channels, leave it disabled.

    Add More Presets

Use multiple presets when different areas of the server need different behavior.

    Examples:

    • A casual creator channel with owner controls enabled.
    • A support creator channel with owner controls disabled.
    • A gaming creator channel with a short delete delay.
    • An event creator channel with a fixed channel name pattern.

Each preset needs a different creator channel. If two presets use the same creator channel, the dashboard rejects the duplicate.

    Save and Test

After configuring the preset, save it and test from Discord with a normal member account or a staff account.

    1. Join the creator voice channel.
    2. Confirm Majestic creates a new voice channel.
    3. Confirm you are moved into the new channel.
    4. Leave the temp channel.
    5. Wait for the configured delete delay.
    6. Confirm the empty temp channel is deleted.
    7. If owner controls are enabled, create another channel and test rename, user limit, transfer, and claim behavior.

Testing with a non-bot member account matters because bot accounts and unusual permission overrides can hide real member issues.

    Permission Checklist

Majestic must be able to manage the channel it creates and move members into it.

Check these permissions in the creator channel category and any relevant channel overrides:

    • View Channel
    • Connect
    • Move Members
    • Manage Channels
    • Send Messages if owner controls post a control panel

Also make sure Majestic's role is high enough in the Discord role list to manage channels with the permissions you expect.

    Recommended Starter Setup

For most communities, start with one simple preset:

    • Creator Channel: Join to Create
    • Channel Name Pattern: {user}'s Channel
    • Delete Delay: 10 seconds
    • Allow User Presets: enabled
    • User is Channel Owner: enabled for casual community rooms, disabled for staff-controlled rooms

After the first preset works, add specialized creator channels only when members clearly need them.

    Troubleshooting

    • No temp channel is created: confirm the module is enabled, a creator channel is selected, and Majestic has Manage Channels.
    • The member is not moved: confirm Majestic has Move Members and can connect to the destination channel.
    • Temp channels are created in the wrong place: move the creator channel to the Discord category where temp channels should appear.
    • Channels are not deleted: check whether someone is still connected and confirm the delete delay is not set longer than expected.
    • The name pattern does not look right: use {user} for the creator's display name and keep the pattern under 100 characters.
    • Members cannot use owner controls: enable User is Channel Owner and make sure Majestic can send the control panel message.
    • A saved name or limit keeps coming back: disable Allow User Presets if every channel should use the preset defaults.

Once Temp Voice works, announce the creator channel in your server so members know they should join it instead of asking staff to create rooms manually.
